In aim to create an architectural image for a critical point in the development of technology and innovation in Sharjah.

SOTI is a place which provides a technology-based environment for innovators, entrepreneurs and industries, to provide mentorship, collaboration and start-up assistance.

The assignment was to design Sharjah’s Oasis for Technology and Innovation, a technology park in the middle of Sharjah’s desert; the site is divided to have a headquarter zone, learning hub, business and industry district, and accommodation.


Concept development:

1.Create positive and negative masses, this is to differentiate between the private and public functions.

2.Create interior open spaces in the positive masses and connect them to the negative masses.

3.adding the breathable canopy:

the pattern is inspired from the black goat wool used in tent making that shrinks when dry and expands when saturated with water, it is arranged to give the effect of an Islamic star.

4.adding the uniting envelope:

the concept is to give the monumental required appearance; it is made of arcades that are made of pointed arches to symbolize the innovation of the Islamic heritage.

Presenting the project to the members of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce (commissioner), Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy (The Chancellor of University of Sharjah), and esteemed Instructors of the Department of Architectural Engineering.
